And you Brutus?
Let us tell our own tale of "Bad Twin"....shall we?....
SAWYER (in his Jack Nicholson's sardonic sense of humor, as seen in As Good As it Gets): Gather round the fire, kids! This is gonna make you wet your loin cloths! (grinning mischievously)
Once upon a time there was a man, hell, we'll call him Henry! Awww, doesn't he look so
sweet and innocent?....Shouldn't we feel sorry for him?....Hang in there...there's more.....
Henry turns out not to be Henry after all!!!!! He has no name so we'll call him, that
guy in the vault! (struggling with his plot, Sawyer sweats....) Or whatever!!! .......(An outburst from behind)
HURLEY: Dude, your story is lame, man!....! You've been the only guy here we've seen spending his time reading all the books on this island! I'm surprised you haven't learned yet how to tell a story of your own!... You're an .... (suddenly, again nearly out of character, starts to lunge towards Sawyer before Jack holds him back. Hurley calms down), but is still out of breath)
SAWYER: Easy there, teddy bear! You're just upset coz Michael filpped his lid and shot your girlfriend!!!! ...Or should I say, ex-girlfriend....? (smiling mischievously). Speaking of ex-girlfriends, would you rather I read an entry from Claire's diary, Charlie?....
CHARLIE: No need to bring up bad memories Hurley's, Claires, or mine!!!! Now, just get back to your bloody story....
SAWYER: Okay, okay... Geez, is it the bonfire or is it getting hot in here?....Whew...well, where were we?... Ah, hmmm, let's start over....In order to please Professor Hurley, I shall give the story a title! (Sneers at Hurley.) I call it, "The Man Behind the Iron Vault."
So we have this guy, who has been captured and put ...(starting to feel the mocking glances of Hurley and Charlie, as they both laugh together side by side as Sawyer struggles to tell his story...)...behind an iron vault....(Sawyer scratches his head uncomfortably, and continously clears his throat...)where...um,,,,...he has been the object of torture by his...ummm, captors.....
Umm,....hell, how the hell am I supposed to tell a friggin story with you two guys laughin' it up in my face!?Every body now on the island now is laughing, breaking the tension that initially was brought on just a few nights ago when Ana Lucia and Libby were caught in an inexplicable twist of fate that seems to have Michael at its center. Where Henry gale was once the fulcrum to the unbalancing acts of the island, Michael's return soon has set a different dynamic among his former comrades. What does the tragic killings of the hatch entail?... Is there such a thing as bad twins on the island, either duplicate beings of themselves or manufactured after those that have been captured?.... (Could the real Tom Cruise been kidnapped by an Other?....Would this explain his currently strange behaviour?. Perhaps the fever on the island is now getting to Michael?...Could it be called the Crusian Flu?....) Is what happened to Michael the reason why Danielle killed her colleagues?....Hmmmm, and how does this tie in with the Hanso Foundation and the Dharma Initiative?.....Who is in control really? And why was Henry's mission out to get Locke? .......... A rare glimpse into the mind of LOCKE:
Island Log: I'm beginning to lose track of the days we've been here,as different events have caused me to be distracted. Because of my injured leg, (oh how I wish to walk again!), I have only writing to keep me occupied. Watching the ocean and sitting here on the beach is the only solace I have right now. Since the death of Boone, I've become a changed man....All my faith in the island has nearly vanished. For a time, I thought Jack and I would make a great team to help the others here on the island, but lately I've seen we are opposites. I must check these instincts and prove that I'm not jumping to conclusions, particularly in Henry (I have no other name to call him, even though I know he is no longer what he once said he is)....Then of late, I can't keep that diagram out of my mind!!!!!! I wish I had the strength and faith of Rose...When I first arrived on this beach, with feeling in my legs and the ability to stand, I would think I was a man of faith...suddenly I am vexed between what is now true and what is false, who is trustworhty and who are false friends....I even sense some think I'm unstable...maybe I am....but what troubles and intrigues me at the same time is why would Henry's mission be to get me from here to take me to wherever he's from?....Is it the same place where Michael has been?....And if so, what 've happened to me when I got there?....From what I saw, I think they have him kept where they kept Henry....I need to go there alone and somehow speak to him......I don't care how unsafe it is, I need answers!!!!!!!
YOU MIGHT AS WELL PUT A HALO ON TOP OF MY HEAD!!!.....Saint EkoAnd so the questions remain, and the answers no longer sufficient or clear, or now refuted....The fate of the island is in a precarious position....As with everything on the island, yin and yan always predominates. The returned presence of Michael has caused the void of the existences of Ana Lucia and Libby.....Mr. Eko has claimed that they are being tested....the real question is, will he have to pay the price as well?........
Transmi-------Who is that....sssion............ Michael?...........What...are you doin?......Huh?.....Wait! NO!!!........................................>..........static

Say it isn't so...
Read the Philadelphia INquirer about a blurb re: one of the cast members to leave the show and join CSI? or some >gasP< other show like that....SAy it's not true?....Is somebody getting killed off the island? Just when things were getting better (relatively speaking in the case of Michael's return), I have to let go of another character?...Prepare the way of my path of Kleenex tissues...

"Dirty Laundry"
Looks like one of the castaways lost some articles of clothing
Okay, not really. Went to Target with a friend who assaulted me with random clothing. We ended up at Old Navy later and I saw these cute pants for sale. It has the worn out deserted on a beach theme. Notice the "improvised" rope as a belt to indicate resourcefulness. And the pockets, though you can't see in pic here, are a bit frayed, to indicate lots of running away or being beaten up by an Other
Hahahaha...Okay, enough being weird....Tomorrow, is it a rerun?...I don't keep up with that stuff....Transmission Out.

LOST THE MUSICAL
Listening to WIcked soundtrack. Felt inspired....So is my mind who once thought after watching last year's King Kong would be interesting to translate as a musical....Well, how bout RENT meets LOST?.....I mean it has all the musical components people love to watch develop: Tragedy (crash; death; tension;uncertainty; fear) Love, and Mystery. Just like RENT, it deals with the struggle to survive in so many ways, psychologically and physically. And even more so, they both share a large number of characters to create a likeable ensemble...Don't get me wrong, the DVD of RENT had bad reviews just as it did in movie theatres, so translating a tv show to theatre?...Suicide?...Maybe, but consider listening and watching to the following:
ACT 1
Intro: Huge flat screen of opening of pilot. Jack's eye.....slowly fade to black. Screen is raised to reveal a simulated shoreline with crash victims and beautiful backdrop of the ocean sky. (Possibly go down as most expensive production if fuselage and everything on the show is carried over to stage)....
ENTER JACK: Slowly moves to stage left then stage right then center stage, disoriented, then stops with back to audience then turns slowly to audience as though he were singing about where he is and is wondering what's happening; perhaps part production involves audience seating area (e.g., attack of polar bear but tastefully done). Jack reenacting as on show his heroism where we're introduced to other members of ensemble cast....
Blah blah blah.. you get my point...Ooooh, I can hear a soft slow ballad of Locke singing about regaining the use of his legs ...
Of course, depending how long the show will be, I'm thinking to condense only the pilot and maybe incorporate part/all of season one?
If you have ideas to elaborate this random whim, I'm intrigued....I did start this xanga initially out of a songwriting venture so I'm inspired to write LOST centered songs...
Anyway.....trannnnnnnssss .........misssssion.........OOOOuuuu TTTTT <<<<<<

Oh HAPPY Day!!!!
Oh Happy Day indeed!!! (To quote Sawyer: Oh happy day! Here comes Dr. Giggles).....
This quote is appropriate in a way because for the last few weeks, though mysterious in some ways, the last few episodes have been a bit dark or without humor or any real enlightenment as to the nature of the characters or the island that we may not have already known. However, the person formerly known as Henry (I vow that we should create a symbol or logo for him) continues to baffle me and FREAKS me out! When confined and asked for reading material, he asked "You have any Stephen King?"....Did he or did he not look like a freakin Stephen King character tonight when Locke asked him desparately through the cell "DID you or DID YOU NOT push in the numbers?"...then we are "treated" with a zoom shot of the creepish smirk on Bugg Eyed Jon Doe's face. No words necessary to let us know he's up to NO GOOD!!!
And finallyTo contrast this, the majority of the episode focused on Bernard and Rose. They are NOT DHARMA MOLES after all!!! I felt touched when Bernard confesses his 56 year bachleorhod's end haveing found the woman he vows to love for the rest of his life in ROSE! If I'm still single at that age I worry, but if it can happen like that ...ahh, beautiful. (Yes, I'm a sap). The whole cancer thing...wow...who knew she was sick? I didn't. Okay, so some elements of flashbacks can be predictable to what might be going on the island and one can make immediate conclusions perhaps too quickly that the island is something that creates in each person their inner wants and desires as well as create conflict by what they think inside but are afraid to share with others or as in season 1, will be revealed in its proper time...(a la the hatch). I thought it cool how Rose and Locke had that special connection knowing about when one is ill or "broken" and that real world time does not seem to apply on the island...
(paraphrased scene between Rose and Locke)
Rose: You're sitting in my spot.
Locke: I can move.
Rose: Can you?
Locke: (flatly) Very funnY.
Rose: It seems you've locked your humor back in the hatch.
Locke: I'm through with the hatch!
Rose: (my memory is foggy but after discussion about Bernard's mission to get off the island and what not or something after this, she mentions something about Locke's current injury and then....) I'm sure you'll be running along the beach in no time.
Locke: Jack says it'll take about 4 weeks.
Rose: (again not sure of words but...) You and I both know it won't take that long...(with a knowing smile)....
All this discussion is relevant towards the end between Rose and Bernard, which I admit again I saw coming and thought was a little predictable, that SHE KNOWS...She knows she is healed, yet the threat of getting sick when leaving the island seems too real so they vow to stay and never leave...
Okay, so we may all have felt the "healing" powers already through Locke and this is old news but at least we have a backdrop for these two characters, but now once again there is no more mystery....Back to another couple and mystery.......THe love or potential love between Jack and Kate...(god, it's beginning to be a Days of Our Lives...)....I think they were trying too hard to create sexual tension that I didn't really sense it that much, coz I know that's what they were goin for! Yet, how kinky to be trapped together in a big net.....two sexy people and no place to go except towards each other....(Again, I know I'm corny...I'm bored). But yeah, as for the other in the triangle Sawyer has begun to be a slightly flat character lately. Of course, this may only happen when episodes don't focus on EVERY single character. So each character is limited to dialogue at the time (Man I loved that quote so much I'll say it again: Oh happy day. Here comes Dr. Giggles). At least Jin had some screen time too ..."Sorry"...To quote what I can quote from him
I started to freak with the fire toward Jack and Kate...Was this a zombie of sorts! A new mix to keep us going...eh? My answer to my question in last post!!! It's freakin MICHAEL! Yes! He's become my Samuel Jackson of the island! "We will get my son back!" (from next week's preview) Alright! A new goal for the island. But what to do with
the Man with no Name!? Okay, so Ana Lucia is left alone to watch over him and as it looks in the preview he gets the better of her!!!!!!!! I think in letting her defense down since the expedition with Sayid and Charlie, she's become a more likeable character. In fact, I think I'm starting to feel for her too as she requested Jack if she wanted her to go with him...and was rebuffed
...As I watch, I'm beginning to feel I'm more like her each time
...Except with the whole gun thing!!! The cute little friendship between Eko and Charlie also raises the faith issue which I too try to grapple with lately and the whole teaming up between these two is great coz both have had their fallen moments and both are trying to work towards redemption in their ways. What better way for Charlie to hang out with the "holy guru."...To paraphrase Eko, "There is more than one way to be saved" in reply to Bernard's quizzical reaction "While everybody's trying to build around here, I'm trying to get us saved."
Anything else I've missed about this episode?....Well I'm not like others who do a better job at recapping episodes and sharing easter eggs and special features or screen caps, but I hope that this post goes down as one of those that put me on the LOST map!

DEATH TO PURGATORY: ARISE HELL
I was helping a friend write a paper on Jean Paul-Satre's one act play NO EXIT and thought of the parallelism with LOST. As I've read some forums and listened to several podcasts, the common thread is that the LOST-ies are on the island for a reason, but is the island a metaphor as in the hotel room for HELL in No EXIT?....Is it only a matter of time before we see Sawyer opening a book and getting all philosophical reading Satre's No Exit?...Are we to continue with earlier threads that posted subconsciousness being manifested into the material world as Walt does with the comic book?...Will whatever Sawyer read be similar?..."Have we forgotten" the old theories, using a phrase Sayid used when asking Charlie whether he's forgotten how the Others made him feel violated?..Remember the connection between Sawyer's reading material and Sun's situation?..(If I'm not mistaken of what the book was about)....And as for the hatch, is that just another submetaphor of something else like the island might be?...It is interesting to point out a scene from the play where the characters all wonder why they are locked up in a room without knowing why they are in the situation they are in (namely hell). They all tell their backstory within the confines of the One Act much like a concise version of the LOST cast's flashbacks...Does every flashback accumulate to everyone's purpose for being on the island?....And as for the interconnectedness between the characters among LOST, the same happens when one of the characters from NO EXIT asks have we met before or had mutual friends that leads us to being isolated in one room...for the purpose of being each other's torturer?....
This is wild cerebral stuff and I thank my friend for asking me help for her paper. It's gotten me into philosophy again..and into LOST theories all over again.!!!! I might even send this out to LOST Network Podcast!!!!!! You heard it hear first!!!
P.S. "Hell is other people." -Jean-Paul Satre.. (Another bridge between LOST and literature- "other" as something that causes disruption of one's comfort zone, whether physical or psychological or both!- Take the "Others" for example)
WHOA!!!!!!!!!!! Recappp.....
That was some wild happenings going on with Hurley. Is he like Nash from a Beautiful Mind, like seeing things and hearing things that aren't there?....Okay, he may not be a genius like the mathematician but Hurley I swear has something of an importance we've yet to discover probably. I mean he did introduce the whole numbers thing right?...And nice revelation about Libby!...Friggin patient! ... And to think she was trying to help Claire as a "licensed therapist." ("I'm not a psychologist but I play a person who pretends to be a psychologist in a mental ward on TV)....And what of the Gale not Gale dude! Protecting Others most likely, ay?......Okay, so, somebody's got to fill me in on the next new episode preview. I got blown away but I had to leave for work....

Don't know what to do...
Wow. I'm impressed with the LOST fansites lately. (You know whom I'm talking about). That map was something else but we may need another season to fully disclose all the information, so maybe things revolving around the map will be focus of revelation next season?....And what of Walt and Michael?....Are we to forget about them?...I haven't seen the eppys that refer to them as I've just started to give in and watch 2nd season like everyone else now. Late bloomer yes...So, can anyone leave a comment to fill in the gaps?...Thanks, and much appreciated...
Nothing too LOST related going on in my life lately. Though I had a run with a potential "Other" as I like to call those who raise suspicion. I thought he was after my iPod and so I had to do some LOST maneuvering...I was successful! Thank god.
Anyway, geez, whew...counting the days for another exciting day of LOSt!

ADDENDUM: ALL THINGS ARE NOT WHAT THEY APPEAR!
Trust no ONE! Great! Now the one person Locke has told about the hatch and its link to the computer, the person Locke thought he could trust, turns out not to be Henry Gale as we originally perceived. Stolen identity is afoot and those last 4 minutes of the episode was enough to freak me out! Wow! What are the movtives behind this mysterious person? The secret is no longer safe and now Jack has even more things to hate Locke for. I really feel for Locke. He is a wounded man with a weak soul. Not only has his kidney and his possibile new life with the woman he loves been taken from him, now his trustworthiness and credibility with the others seem to be shattered. And what now of his disability? Will he be able to walk normal again? We never did find out how he lost the use of his legs before the crash...not yet anyway...
But that aside, I'm looking forward to next eppy! I hope that's a dream sequence where Hurley looks like he's about to jump (ok, really slip) and fall to his demise. That would be a bummer dude if it weren't!
Anyway, great show! More to come after.

LOST'S GIFT FOR ME :)
Hey hey hey! It's another L o S t episode! And it looks really good. I hope it won't let us fall into the trap that many movie previews do to dupe people to go to the theaters and waste money on bad movies. Of course, we're talking about LOST and there isn't any good reason why the creators would try to psyche its viewers and fans alike into watching something trivial...because as in searching for the meaning of life the meaning of LOST still remains elusive and we all continue to search for resolution...Many sites devoted to LOST recap episodes and theories. I'll let others do that (with occassional lapses into those areas) but I think this site is mainly a forum to raise questions that LOST inpsires us to ask ourselves. I think it helps in raising our critical thinking skills to name one. But also , there are spiritual and existentialism overtones I like to explore about the show as well.
Who out there have their own deep passions of this show? If you're out there, let me know!
Oh as for the subject title above, LOST's gift is that it's showing a NEW episode tonite-the 29th on the 29th! My birthday. And even though it's not one of THE numbers, the coincidence is not lost on me
(If you saw the film V for Vendetta, there are NO COINCIDENCES).
