I'm Gonna What?
Words in the mind of Charlie, I'm supposing...
I finally caught the latest LOST episode. HOwever, a weird twist of fate relates to time once again. My VCR (yes, the golden age) was set 2 hours off from the actual time of LOSt and so I missed having it taped for immortality. It would have gone nicely with the last blog's entry related to the scene from The Long Con. No matter. I have found a revelation of another character I've grown attached to yet we've hardly seen because of the "prison" scenes of last year's six episode story arc. I thought it interesting though about the concept of course correcting...No matter how you try to change things, there may be a final resolution set in stone. Birth. Death. Love. Whatever...
But the fact that I might lose another loved character? This is just too much...I like Desmond enough at least to still invest time in watching the show, but I guess LOST is trying to teach us real life lessons...People die!!!
Another aspect of this episode that I dig is the "HEROES" element. Desmond has this ability that parallels and begs the analogy:
PUSH THE BUTTON! SAVE THE WORLD! What is to come of Desmond's role in all this? He was the first before the LOSTies came to the island. I must continue to watch.
And in closing, my theory:
Everyone on the island has some closure and hang up to overcome. The fact that Desmond can see into the future is much like his past, trying to make up for a time he was so uncertain about in particular with the future with Penelope. COuld he be the man she deserved? Could he be worthy enough in the end? COuld he go back and change things and be a "better" man that Penelope's father claimed he could never be?
What about Charlie? The fact he found those statues filled with marijuana? Haunting how then the life of drugs would lead to his fatality? A metaphor of what his life would really be outside the island? No matter how hard he tried to make amends, he'd end up dead anyway, as implied by Desmond?
What of Locke? Did he suffer an inferior complex like Desmond? His resolved paralysis to being able to walk symbolizing his overcoming being deceived and paralyzed emotionally from the shock caused by the deception of his father? Are all three above needing to prove their manhood somehow?
I have many more theories to come...
PUSH THE BUTTON!!! SAVE THE WORLD!!

Time Travel...
Okay, so, I'm kind of recanting my last rant. Once I think I can start relating to LOST, I feel more involved and interested in the show. Case in point: I decided to tape LOSt but on off chance I happened to hear the latest episode on the radio. What struck me was the element of the suggestino of time travel...Why?...Well, the episode I decided to tape after was from last season, The Long Con. There's a scene, if you remember, where Sayid and Hurley are on the shore trying to catch radio waves. They manage to pick up a signal to which Sayid explains scientifically that the sound waves bounce off from the ionosphere thousands of miles away. It could be coming from anywhere...To which Hurley smiles and says,"Or anywhere." A nod to early conspirators theories of time travel
..."Just kidding dude," Hurley retracts with a grin....But could it be feasible? Is all this action we see on the island all originating from Desmond?...This would disappoint fans, hoping not for another St. Elsewhere ending to a series or Newhart's "dream" finale.
But I thought it interesting that the urge to tape the show came at a time that interested me enough to catch a little nugget that I could relate to in my life
Happy LOST revival

Latest Episode Installment
What we've seen...
Okay. Forgive my bitter tone of late. Maybe the changes fluctuating with LOST has got me down (hiatus for 13 weeks, previous reruns of last season, story line seeming to get carried away without much cohesion-missing the other characters), but I feel I must endure the evolution of this show and thus this site must evolve in the same way as it affects me.
So, we've seen Juliet (spoiler alert) be a fertility researcher allowing her sick sister to get pregnant when it seemed unfeasible. She even was able to impregnate a male rodent, thought not to full term. "They" (associate with "Others") offer her a sweet research deal, a Club Med for scientists to do what they want, recreationallly and scientifcally. Only, her ex-husband, involved with the research, holds her back psychologically and so she refuses the offer, saying, "Only if he were hit by a bus"... What happens?...BAM!!!!
Other plot lines we see is Jack's negotiation with Ben's surgery - do we let him die or fix him?
Then there's Kate and Sawyer's escape.
And Alex's quest to save her boyfriend Carl/Karl (very Clockwork Orange, but eh, not very impressive if you ask me).On a Polar Bear scale, I rate this 2.5 roars.
Sorry for true fans out there. I just can't be bothered anymore. And to add to my dissatisfaction, 10pm is no longer an option for me. I have to work nights!!!! Yah, I'm screwed. So, my alternative is to wait for the DVD's and rent them for a weekend...but I know I'll be catching epi's online...So, therefore, I'll still be here, if anyone cares to bother commenting...though, like me and the show, it seems nobody really cares for this site either
Man overboard...

Passion Lost?
Okay, where have I been since I last posted, you might ask. Good question. The passion is just not there anymore. Life has taken the spotlight lately, and I've had trouble navigating through my own jungle of reality. Not that it's all bad. Just stuff to sort through. No hatches yet discovered. No hatches have been blown up. No computer left untyped. However, some casualties may have occurred here or there, or disappeared into existence or parallel dimension (e.g., Walter & Michael). Some I only have caught glimpses of in passing ( e.g., sightings of Jack's father). And bizarre triangles, not necessarily romantic. I had a "wigwam" experience (e.g., Locke meditating in tent) as I struggled with a faith crisis. Now, that faith seems to be challenged once again, like a certain death (e.g., Loss of Eko on the island).
What to make sense now of the island? Could Lost be some presentation of a Sartre play "The Flies?" Like the "black smoke," the hoard of flies are the furies of remorse? COuld it be that the black smoke that follows everyone or chases all the castaways are much like this? Kate, Jack, Sawyer, Eko, Sun, Jin...etc. all have had their "sins" to deal with. And on this island, they are force to deal with those past deeds, much like Sartre's Argos in his play.
Your opinions?....
(retiring to an unknown place where no one seems to know where I am, much like this blog which no one seems to read, and a distant part where I can be forgotten....like Rose & Bernard...where are they?)

Send out the search party...!
the very few you read this will notice I haven't posted much...To fill my time, I was able to reawaken my need to watch more of the different shows, more so on Thursdays and Mondays...Mondays I try to watch Heroes,,,of course, it's on season finale hiatus so I have to wait for the next season. Then I've been converted to Dundism....otherwise known as fandom for the show The Office...I might even create a blog dedicated to The OFfice!!! Yes!!!! Something GOOD has come from this too long of a wait hiatus from LOSt....February still seems sooo long....
In the meantime, I'm trying to "search" out my Christmas gift...I've been told its too big to wrap, must be picked up, can be plugged in, has no brandname?, can last a long time, and yet cannot be brought outside! Ok, so I'm greedy with clues yet they are still so vague I don't know what it could be. Oh, did I mention it was in a box?...I told people at work about the mystery gift and they thought it was a car...Dude, wouldn't that be awesome! But reality sets in again, and I realize, a car other than a model one cannot fit into a box....And they normally come in brands, and run on gas though those weird models (of the future) might be able to be plugged in....Blah blah blah...So NOT Lost related I know....
Maybe it's my own island with Losties for me to control, powered by an electric smoke monster that must be recharged by plugging it in for six days...
Eh, whaever...Bored silly is all...
Have a NON-Paulo and Niki day

Karma!
So, out with the bad and in with worse! OKay, Libby was sort of tolerable. At least she gave Hurley some companionship. But a new annoyance has arrived, Paulo & Niki. Are they the next victims to follow after the cliffhanger we were treated last week? I don't recall any clips of Paulo or Niki in the preview clips for promos for Lost's return on February. Then again, perhaps I turned a blind eye not wanting to see them survive....If Paulo and maybe Niki had any engaging depth to the story (a deep flashback would be in order, unless their flashbacks foresee the seal to their doom by that night's show's end), maybe I'd get invested in their characters. For me though, they seem like glorified extras....But we all must start somewhere...(Remember, this is a person who never watched Party of 5 and though Matthew Fox wasn't a hill of beans...His acting chops have definitely grown up-smile).
Until February, I continue to find more useless ways to spend my time
Namaste

Thirteen Week Meditation
So rumour has been confirmed! Fall finale is soon approaching, to which we will be met with a 13 count em 13 week hiatus...
Hmm, do the creators want us to hate or love the show? It's like a filter to see who the true Lost devotees are. We experienced the frustrations of season two with reruns alternating with new episodes. For newbies, this might have been a good thing, however, tedious for those already invested in the show. It is true of what my recruiter to LOST said, "You get sucked in the first season, watching one episode after another when you have it all in one DVD collection." So true that I tried to watch Season 2, but only started to get into the last half since I started season 1 after season 2 was nearly half over...No worries, since the season two finale was quite a cliffhanger...Now, with some frustrations here and there with alternate prison camp vs. Locke as "Lord of the Flies", we are only met with 6 episodes?...Then...reflect on the loss of one major character?...Another fellow LOST fan confessed her own frustrations with the show, upon discussing the long hiatus....What does this mean for LOST fans?...PLease stay devoted. It is trials like these that the show meets its vulnerability and potential for it to go downhill. Keeping hope afloat?...The Man with the Eyepatch and what he's all about...Desmond and what might seem to be powers or living in an alternatime time parallel?
Locke's burgeoning "leadership" abilities (turn into hunter after all?)...But , although we've seen them to be flat in terms of their intentions, the Others seem to be the real main mystery this season.....Who is to be next to fall due to the trappings of the island? The monster took one, will the Others do the same? One can only reflect...Perhaps the hiatus will be a good thing for all of us, to refocus on other things -creative pursuits, spiritual renewal, rekindling of relationships...all good material and fodder for any LOST episode...If only we could see more of them on screen.

My wake up call that urged me out of bed this morning sounded a lot like the monster "security alarm" on the LOST island! It made me smile inside. My backyard is like a makeshift deserted island (it's really an old dried up creek). If I were younger and watching the show, me and my friends would make our own LOST adventures back there. But the real sound of the so called monster may have just been a train whistle, but it's good to know my youthfulness and imagination is still alive:)
